Jump to RecipeI always talk about how I love healthy, simples recipes that require little attention to detail. This recipe is as simple as it gets—only four ingredients, can be made in one bowl and no oven required. These squares are similar to my Peanut Butter Coconut Ball recipe, just a little more dessert-like.
4 Simple Ingredients
Yep, that’s all it takes to make these Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares! Four, whole food ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry…
Oats – use rolled oats for the best results, opt for organic oats whenever possible to avoid higher levels of glyphosate
Peanut Butter – natural peanut butter (no oil or sugar added) is the best choice here, Costco and Trader Joe’s have creamy PB options for a great price
Honey – search for raw, local honey to get the most nutritional benefit and antioxidants from this ingredient, maple syrup would also work as a substitute
Chocolate Chips – use your favorite brand here, I prefer dark chocolate especially Thrive Market’s version made with coconut sugar
Customize your Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares
- Flax Seeds: you can add ground flax for extra fiber and blood sugar balancing, add about 1/4 cup to the oat mixture and prepare as directed
- Coconut Shreds: if you’re a coconut lover, you can add coconut shreds or flakes to the base, top, or both. Use about 1/4 cup of coconut shreds for the base and your judgement when adding to the top of the chocolate before freezing. Also, you can use coconut oil instead of peanut butter when melting the chocolate chips
- Chopped Peanuts: want some extra crunch? Add a handful of chopped peanuts over the melted chocolate before freezing
- Sea Salt: feel free to sprinkle on some sea salt over the top of the chocolate to enhance the salty peanut chocolate flavor
